About us

Aspen View School Division, more commonly referred to as Aspen View Public Schools or AVPS, is a regional and primarily rural school authority located north of Edmonton, Alberta. AVPS is 9,980 sq km in size. Our division encompasses Athabasca County, Thorhild County and Smoky Lake County and communities contained therein, including the Town of Athabasca, Village of Boyle, Town of Smoky Lake and Village of Vilna. We also serve the Smith-Hondo region within the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River.

In September 2024, there were 2,585 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students registered to attend one of AVPS’s 10 schools, four Hutterite Brethren schools and two Outreach/Off-Campus/Virtual schools. Our division employs approximately 330 staff; with approximately 175 being school-based teachers or administrators

AVPS is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of seven members. Elections for Trustee positions are held every four years. Board meetings are held throughout the year, and are open to the public. The division is managed by a senior management team that include Superintendent of Schools, Constantine Kastrinos; Associate Superintendent of Human Resources & Student Services, Kimberlee Carson; Associate Superintendent of Curriculum & Technology, Katherine Mann; and Secretary-Treasurer, Amber Oko. As of July 2024, our division office is housed within the campus of Athabasca University in Athabasca.
