Board Priorities
The Aspen View Public Schools Board of Trustees is responsible for annually approving the Education Plan, which includes the Division Priorities and Outcomes. Additionally, the Board is responsible for the development of goals and policies to guide the division, including strategic priorities that reflect the Mission, Vision and Commitments of the division.
Engagement
- Continue to build relationships with municipal and provincial government partners
- Explore opportunities to improve engagement with Indigenous communities
- Enhance opportunities for feedback with parents and key stakeholders on relevant issues
- Encourage parent, student and community engagement through various opportunities
Advocacy
- Ensure that rural sustainability remains the key focus of advocacy efforts
- Engage in stakeholder communication that enhances and promotes the role and value of public school education
- Develop mechanisms to foster cross-ministry advocacy, including partnerships with other school boards
Creating Opportunity
- Ensure that Aspen View Public Schools remains committed to helping all student achieve success
- Support initiatives and partnerships that expand educational opportunities and enhance programming for students
- Ensure equitable, diverse and inclusive learning environments for all students
Division Priorities & Outcomes:
Aspen View Public Schools administration is responsible for the development of the Education Plan, including Division Priorities and Outcomes, that reflect the board-established goals and policies, as well as Alberta Education Assurance Domains.
Each Aspen View schools administration team is responsible for the implementation of strategies that strive to meet the targeted outcomes for each Division Priority identified in the Education Plan.
Student Success & Completion
Students are successful from the time they enter school until high school completion, and beyond
Outcomes:
- Students are able to read fluently for meaning and enjoyment
- Students are able to express clear and interesting ideas through writing
- Students use math fact and procedural fluency to solve problems
- Students build knowledge and evaluate information to become independent thinkers
- Students complete a high school program and are connected to future career and post-secondary pathways
First Nations, Métis & Inuit Student Success:
- First Nations, Metis and Inuit students experience learning that supports reclamation of cultural identity
- All staff and students experience learning that builds an understanding of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives
Wellness
Learning and working environments are inclusive, safe, welcoming and healthy
Outcomes:
- Students and staff are able to resolve conflicts in a healthy manner and feel safe
- Students and staff are well-regulated
- Students and staff have equitable access to supports
- Schools implement collaborative support processes to effectively address diverse learning needs
Engagement
Students are interested and engaged in their learning, feel connected to their school, and have opportunities to pursue their passions
Outcomes:
- Positive community relations contribute towards student success
- Staff and students have a sense of belonging
- Students and staff attend regularly
- Resources are effectively managed to ensure learning supports, quality teaching and leading, and optimum learning for all
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Decision-making and assurance are based on a commitment to ongoing engagement, efficiencies and communication
