Aspen View Public Schools is pleased to introduce newcomers to our division in administrative and division-based support roles:

David Amiot, Principal, Thorhild Central School

David AmiotHello! My name is David Amiot, Principal of Thorhild Central School. I started my admin career at Boyle School 20 years ago and I am thrilled to be back with Aspen View Public Schools! During my career, I have had the privilege of being a teacher/administrator in five Alberta school divisions and an Alberta Education senior manager with several government branches. I am excited to be working with such a fantastic team at TCS. We have awesome students at our school! On the home front, my wife Mona, son Deklan, and I are ecstatic about being closer to friends and relatives.

Claire Burry, Speech-Language Pathologist

Claire BurryI received my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Alberta in 2020. I currently provide speech and language services at seven schools across the division, including Boyle, Grassland, H.A. Kostash, Rochester, Smith, Thorhild Central and Vilna Schools. I believe that adopting a child-centered approach to intervention can lead to positive and meaningful change for students. In my spare time, I enjoy yoga, hiking and spending time with my family.

Marissa Kargus, Family School Liaison

Marissa KargusMy name is Marissa; I am the FSL at Smith School this year! I am very excited to be able to work with the Smith students, offering one-on-one support, as well as providing some classroom and small group activities and classes. I am also the Apple School Lead and the SOGI Lead. When I am not in the school you can usually find me with my dog and family!

Lauren Melnyk, Family School Liaison

Lauren MelnykMy name is Lauren Melnyk. I am so thrilled to be the new Family School Liaison Worker at H.A Kostash and Vilna Schools. I was born and raised in Sherwood Park but have lived in rural Smoky Lake for about six years now, since marrying a farmer. I have a degree in Child and Youth Care and work experience with Children's Services. Being in a school is a new and exciting change for me; I have already met several amazing students and they just keep coming! In my spare time, I can be found chasing after my three little boys or failing miserably at training my one big dog.
