An opportunity for parents to provide feedback on their children’s education

From March 15 - April 23, 2021, Alberta Education is conducting the annual Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey. Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving, so we encourage you to complete your survey promptly.

What is it?

The Assurance Survey is one component of the Assurance Framework; which is the measuring stick that Alberta Education and school authorities use to ensure that they are equipping students for success.

The Assurance Framework uses a set of performance indicators. Data for these indicators comes from three sources:

  1. Assurance Survey of students, their parents and teachers to see how they perceive the quality of education they receive and take part in;
  2. Student learning indicators, such as high school completion and post-secondary transition rates;
  3. Student results from Provincial Achievement Tests and Diploma Examinations.

Why are the surveys important?

The results of the Assurance Survey, along with the other measures of the Assurance Framework, give everyone important information and evidence about the quality of your child’s education. The results show which measures have improved, which have remained constant and which have declined.

Schools and school authorities are expected to share their results and plans for improvement with the community, through their Education Plan, Annual Education Results Report (AERR) and other platforms, so their stakeholders can review them. At a glance, the results point out successes and areas of concern from both a local and provincial perspective.

Who gets to do the survey?

Assurance Survey packages are sent in March to:

Parents/guardians of Grade 4, 7 & 10 students from:

  • Boyle School
  • Edwin Parr Composite School

  • Vilna School

Parents/guardians of Grades 4-12 students from:
