Culinary Arts (First Period- Pre-Employment Cooking) Dual Credit Program

Culinary ArtsWould you like to attend college while still in high school? Are you interested in the food service industry? Did you graduate from high school last year, but are unsure of the next steps in your academic career and are considering returning for a 4th year of high school? If you have said yes to any of these questions, then the First Period Culinary Arts (Pre-Employment Cooking) dual credit program would be perfect for you!

Aspen View Public Schools has partnered with Portage College to offer a First Period Culinary Arts (Pre-Employment Cooking) dual credit program to high school students. Dual credit programs allow high school students to take college courses and earn both high school and post-secondary credits at the same time.

The First Period Culinary Arts (Pre-Employment Cooking) dual credit program provides the knowledge and skills required to prepare students for professional entry into the food service industry. The program uses a blended delivery format (partly online and partly in a professional kitchen) to provide participants with a solid foundation in Culinary Arts equivalent to First Period Apprenticeship cook training.
